For more details, review the full job details and requirements below.The Kennel Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily operations of the animal shelter, ensuring the effective supervision of staff and the well-being of animals. A significant portion of their time is spent overseeing the cleaning and maintenance protocols, managing scheduling, handling front office duties, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Supervises animal care technicians and manages their schedules; trains technicians in cleaning and disinfecting the animal shelter; coaches and evaluates the animal care technicians; develops and maintains safety protocols for animal handling and shelter practices.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates daily operations and work plans for the shelter and technicians; handles front office duties including adoptions, redemption, ordinance information, phone inquiries, and public meet and greets.
- Processes and resolves issues with the City License using software; manages records and transactions for the City of Olathe’s online animal licensing program.
- Evaluates stray animals for adoption, or when necessary, euthanasia; addresses essential animal care needs, including medical, dietary, enrichment, and surgery.
QualificationsExperience: Two years of customer service experience, experience working with animals, and knowledge of animal behavior and breeds are required.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
