GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Information Security Officer, the Cyber Security Analyst (CSA) performs complex (journey-level) information security and cybersecurity analysis work. Leverages a range of security tools and techniques, including firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection/prevention systems, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, and threat intelligence platforms, to identify and mitigate cyber risks. CSA is also instrumental in configuring, monitoring, and optimizing Microsoft 365 security features, including identity and access management, data loss prevention (DLP), threat protection, and compliance solutions within the M365 suite. Additionally, CSA will manage and contribute to cybersecurity projects, overseeing their lifecycle from planning and execution to monitoring and completion, ensuring security initiatives are delivered effectively and on schedule. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Information Technology Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience :
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time experience in information security analysis or a closely related cybersecurity role.
2 years' experience in managing or contributing to IT or cybersecurity projects.
NOTE : Experience may have occurred concurrently.
Background Check :
Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check prior to employment offer. Potential candidates will be responsible for expenses related to the background check.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :
Education :
Two additional years' experience in information technology, one of which must have been security related may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 60 semester hours.
Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in with major coursework in Information Technology Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field may substitute for one year of the required experience.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or PhD with major coursework in Information Technology Security, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field may substitute for two years of the required experience.
