    A New Opportunity and what you’ll do

    Ventura Water is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SCADA Systems Specialist (Promotional Only) to join our team.

    In this critical role, you'll be instrumental in the development, operation, administration, and support of Ventura Water's vital information systems, with a particular focus on our SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system and its related components, including reporting and alarm notification systems. You'll ensure the efficient and effective 24/7 functioning of these critical systems, manage projects for maintaining and enhancing control and historical data systems, and provide essential technical support for specialized computer hardware, software, components, and devices. This position requires a proactive individual who can investigate, analyze, and resolve a wide range of computer-related problems, from troubleshooting hardware and software to addressing communication issues and resolving compatibility problems, all while upholding system security and integrity.

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate exemplary customer service, actively participating in a positive customer service environment by being attentive, understanding, responsive, fair, courteous, and respectful. You will play a key role in evaluating and testing new applications, installing upgrades, and deploying new software, serving as a liaison with vendors for system software and hardware. As a focal point for SCADA-related projects, you'll assess operational requirements, research and develop information system solutions, manage budgets, and monitor project performance. This role also involves overseeing the maintenance and repair of computer hardware systems, responding to user inquiries, and contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to system availability and security. The ability to troubleshoot problems on a 24/7 basis is essential for this dynamic position.

    Experience and Qualifications for Success!

    A combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in computer science, business administration, or a related area, AND three years of professional experience in software and hardware system installation and maintenance in both web-based and P.C., and server networked environments are required. Two years of experience working with SCADA systems is required.

    License: Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license is required.

    Incumbent may be required to work irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends
