The Position
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Las Vegas, NV. Primary duties will include skilled heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration service, preventive and routine maintenance, recordkeeping and repairs. Troubleshooting and/or replacing equipment or components to HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Apply knowledge of HVAC service practices and procedures and a specific knowledge of the building equipment, utilizing standard and specialized test equipment and hand tools. Use and read equipment drawings, refrigerant recovery equipment, combustion analyzer, vacuum pumps and other equipment need to accomplish assigned tasks. Respond to service calls and participate in on call rotation coverage. Ensure systems are running properly at all times and record operating parameters and information as required. Apply technical assistance, monitor job progress to ensure compliance with proper standards, codes and time frames. Perform system maintenance on low and high pressure steam and hot water boilers, fuel and combustion systems, forced air furnaces, radiant heaters, chillers, window air conditioning units, evaporative coolers and refrigeration units. Diagnose malfunctions of equipment. Initiate work orders for routine and any non-scheduled or emergency repair. Review all work orders assigned to department. Assist with the upkeep of building maintenance by assisting other skilled trades as directed by Supervisor.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be requred to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
