    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

    The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) Child Care and Development Program (CCDP) is seeking an IT Technician III. IT Technicians are responsible for maintaining and providing Help Desk support for system applications such as the Nevada Child Care System and its successor system which is currently being developed. Incumbent must independently troubleshoot, resolve and provide solutions to the end users experiencing software/system related issues. Incumbent will assist a Business Process Analyst III with business process analysis and consultation for IT-related solutions. This position will report directly to the BPA III and supervise no staff. The position is located in Carson City and may have occasional travel to/from Southern Nevada.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, two years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
