    Introduction

    The Police Wellness Supervisor promotes mental health and resiliency among Police Department employees. This role provides resources, training, and support to enhance employee well-being and coordinates key wellness initiatives. This position performs supervisory and administrative duties including updating and maintaining the Wellness Unit's operational orders, policies and procedures and wellness program initiatives.

    ANTICIPATED STARTING SALARY MAY BE UP TO MID-POINT DEPENDING ON CANDIDATE’S EXPERIENCE
    AND INTERNAL EQUITY mid-point for this position is $45.40/hr.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
    • Four years of experience in wellness, mental health, and resiliency, which includes at least one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/orjob-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Obtain Critical Incidence Stress Management (CISM) and Advanced CISM certifications within one year of hire.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.


    Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.

    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area within a department(s) which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Develops and sustains a culture of mental health and wellness within the Scottsdale Police Department by leading and managing wellness initiatives including Peer Support and Critical Incident Programs
    • Manages the notification process for Peer Support members to respond to significant incidents, including assigning members’ roles and conducting training to ensure members are abreast of new or revised information, policies and procedures.
    • Maintains referral information to provide resource guidance for employees needing psychological, mental health, physical health and substance abuse services.
    • Designs, promotes, and conducts public safety mental health and resiliency workshops and classes for leadership and department personnel.
    • Leads, coordinates and provides staffing for wellness programs, collaborations, trainings, and debriefings at various department events (e.g., training blocks, academy programs, family nights).
    • Collects and analyzes data to measure the effectiveness of wellness initiatives. Develops metrics to evaluate program success and implement improvements based on findings.
    • Responds to significant incidents on scene, providing wellness support and resources on-site for Peer Support members and employees. Coordinates and sets up Peer Support meeting location, assigns Peer Support assignments and acts as the lead contact for direction from Command Staff and management members during incidences.

    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, and hand and eye movement.

    The timeframe for reapplication with the Police Department varies based on the position and the needs of the organization.
