    Role

    Yavapai County Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a forward-thinking and experienced leader to join our team as Deputy Chief Information Officer.

    In this key leadership role, you will help drive the strategic direction of the County’s technology initiatives while ensuring the efficient and secure delivery of IT services across all departments.

    The position is in Prescott, Arizona, the beautiful region of Central Arizona. Yavapai County is one of the four original Arizona counties formed in 1864. Named after the Yavapai Tribe, whose name means the “people of the sun,” the County is just north of Phoenix and about 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon, featuring some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the American West. Prescott’s perfect weather provides an average temperature of 70 degrees, with four beautiful and distinct seasons with breathtaking landscapes complete with granite mountains, lakes, and rolling meadows.

    The ideal candidate is a dynamic problem-solver with a strong background in IT operations, project management, and team leadership, ready to support innovation and digital transformation in public service.

    Major Duties, Responsibilities

    • Oversees daily operational activities of the department; plans and prioritizes tasks; ensures compliance with appropriate governing authorities and internal policies and procedures; directs and participates in research associated with new technologies; develops and administers service level agreements, software and hardware contracts; establishes and manages service delivery mechanisms and corresponding reporting capabilities.
    • Designs, configures, implements, administers, and reports on the County's application and infrastructure portfolio and ensures proper alignment with operational capability and technology needs of the County and all other business partners.
    • Develops and implements long range strategic plans to address the evolving the technology needs of the county and its customer needs. Makes recommendations and budget proposals to meet those needs.
    • Directs, coaches, and trains staff, and evaluates performance; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve priorities, workload, resource allocation, budgets, technical issues, quality standards, and services.
    • Plans, executes, and reports on technology related projects; develops and manages budgets; assures all project and operational issues are properly addressed and resolved.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


    Minimum Qualifications

    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or closely related field.

    Experience:
    A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT management, staff development, organizational budgeting, personnel management, and/or related field(s).

    An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.

    Additional Requirements:
    Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
