    Job Summary

    We are looking for a Crisis Support Specialist to join out Team!

    To be a successful Crisis Support Specialist you will p rovides outreach, education, and on-call crisis stabilization support services to individuals with mental health conditions and/or homelessness. Facilitates and conducts crisis- based needs assessments and referrals to appropriate treatment facilities and other social service agencies for mental health impairments, chemical dependency, and/or homelessness. Assists in diverting target populations from the criminal justice system back into treatment services.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Provides assistance to police personnel in the field, responding to subjects suffering from homelessness and/or under going a mental health crisis to include chemical dependency needs.
    • Communicate with personnel regarding appropriate strategies for intervention and referrals.
    • Demonstrates competency in crisis intervention and mental health conditions through thorough assessment, making diagnostic impressions, and assisting the person in crisis. Ability to provide same level of services to police personnel while on-call.
    • Required to participate in on call rotation to assist police personnel after hours with strategies for intervention and referrals.
    • Conduct active and assertive follow-ups in person and by telephone with individuals with mental health conditions, states of homelessness, and those with chemical dependency needs to facilitate appropriate referrals.
    • Maintain accurate daily documentationofcriticalactivities,casemanagement,andservicesprovidedtomental health consumers and homeless individuals. In addition, collect and maintain statistical data on homelessness and police calls for service.
    • Ability to organize field and administrative tasks to include case triaging, checking daily reports for accuracy, and make proper referrals.
    • Establishesandmaintainsrelationshipswithserviceproviders,hospitalstaff,advocacygroups, and court staff involved with target populations.
    • Attends community resource related meetings. Collaborates with other mental health, homeless, and chemical dependency service organizations to facilitate outreach and continuity of care. Maintains an accurate portfolio of resource contacts.
    • Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities.
    • Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
    • Must successfully complete the employment process which will include the following: fingerprints, polygraph, drug screen, criminal history background check and social security number verification.
    • Must participate in a Defensive Tactics course.
    • Must be able to work outside of regular business hours as required.
    • Regular and dependable attendance is required.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field required
    • Experience: Minimum two (2) years of related experience required, with work related to essential functions, crisis-based experience preferred
    • Licenses: One of the following is preferred to be eligible for hire:
      • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW);
    • Texas Class C Driver License is required
    • Certifications Required: NA
