    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

    T he Sexual Health Nurse Lead is responsible for nursing work to promote and protect the health of individuals, families, and populations using knowledge from nursing, social, and public health sciences.     This position in Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) involves clinic and community setting public health nursing work to promote and protect the health of individuals, families, and populations using knowledge from nursing, social, and public health sciences. This position works within JCPH clinic services providing sexual health, immunization, harm reduction and opioid use disorder services to our community. This position oversees the provision of care by Public Health Nurses and clinic services staff, developing and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and standing orders, providing oversight and coordination of various projects, and serving as lead trainer for sexual health program ing .

    The Sexual Health Nurse Lead supports the development and implementation of new programs and services and provides direct nursing services, stakeholder and partner collaboration, and education.



    SCHEDULE:

    Please note this position has a 4 10-hour per day work week, with occasional flexed Fridays, evenings, and weekend shifts.



    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range: $70,400- $8 8 ,000 USD Annually

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    Involves professional nursing work, direct patient care, outreach coordination, programmatic and clinic services support to include but are not limited to:

    • Provides support for clinical expertise , training, and quality assurance in assigned programs.


    • Provides public health nursing leadership.


    • Conducts care coordination and health management with clients in the area of sexual health.


    • Serves as a preceptor and mentor for all new public health nurses and nursing students in assigned programs.


    • Acts as point of contact with agency academic coordinator for nursing students during community/public health rotations at agency. Facilitates educational presentations or experiences for students.


    • Leads quality improvement projects as identified through their oversight of regular auditing processes for programs.


    • Engages in program planning, development and evaluation, community health needs assessments.


    • Collects and interprets data to provide input for programmatic decision making.


    • Facilitates communication between program leadership and nursing staff in specialized area of practice.


    • Assists in development, planning and implementation of new processes and procedures.


    • Assists with scheduling of clinic staff and ensures adequate coverage, including filling in for team vacancies and absences as needed and requested by the supervisor.


    • Provides culturally appropriate and client-centered care to diverse populations.


    • Interviews clients to obtain relevant health history, conducting screening, evaluating patient needs and using the shared-decision-making model in providing care and case management.


    • Evaluates patients and histories to order appropriate STI screening and testing, counsel on and dispense contraceptive methods, administer STI treatments, conduct case management and follow-up, under the direction and oversight of a prescribing provider.


    • Develops intra-agency partnerships and leading collaborative efforts for service delivery to the community.


    • Works alongside and with the Immunization and Points West program to improve access to sexual health, harm reduction services, opioid use disorder treatment, and immunization services to all clients.


    • Organizes and leads outreach events for sexual health services independently and in collaboration with stakeholders, intra-agency programs, and community organizations.


    • Accurately and timely documents patient care within the EHR.


    • Establish and develop relationships with various stakeholders and service agencies for program promotion, coordination and collaboration.


    • Responds to health care emergencies as needed.


    • Participates in JCPH emergency preparedness trainings as appropriate . Performs duties as assigned during a natural or bio-terrorism emergency.


    • Represents JCPH and the public health nursing discipline on internal and external committees and workgroups to promote health equity, and reproductive justice, and other program mandates.


    • Establishes, maintains , and develops partnerships with community agencies to obtain essential client materials, resources, and referral links.


    • Responsible for ongoing relevant professional development and education.


    • Lab and outlet pharmacy duties as needed, including pharmacy inventory and medication ordering, collecting, packaging, and resulting lab tests, conducting CLIA waived test and supporting APP clinic staff in patient care.


    • Other duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimal Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and one year of nursing experience.


    • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Colorado, or in a state that has enacted the RN Nurse Licensure Compact at time of employment.


    • Current CPR certification at hire


    • Must provide immunization record at time of hire or prove immunity to comply with departmental Communicable Disease Control Policy within 30 days of hire date .



    Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Preferred 2 additional years of experience above the minimum requirements .


    • Strongly prefer experience in public health nursing, including family planning, sexually transmitted infection, communicable disease control , street outreach and / or immunization experience .


    • Experience in use of Electronic Health Records .


    • Spanish speaking ability preferred, but not required . JCPH has a policy to additionally compensate workforce members who are able to demonstrate bilingual language skills.
