    Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business or Public Administration, English, Marketing, Planning, or related field, and two (2) years of grant administration experience, including one (1) year of grant writing experience, and one (1) year of supervisory experience.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by time of appointment.

    General Purpose

    Under administrative direction, plan, coordinate, monitor, and supervise grant-seeking, writing, and administration activities in alignment with the City’s Strategic Plan.

    Typical Duties

    Plan, oversee, and implement Citywide grant-seeking activities. Involves: Managing the grant evaluation and proposal development process to secure new grant funding opportunities. Research and identify grant funding needs and opportunities. Assist City Departments in determining grant eligibility. Provide technical assistance and training to departments in grant writing, preparation, and management. Develop and implement administrative procedures and controls for the grant application process.

    Develop and write grant proposals. Involves: Plan and develop written grant proposals and supporting documentation identifying needs, objectives, methodologies, personnel, budget, monitoring capability, and evaluation criteria, as required by grantor agencies. Coordinate grant writing activities and work collaboratively with City departments in the formulation and submission of grant proposals. Manage grant application timelines and deliverables. Prepare and monitor grant budgets.

    Monitor approved grants and grant activities. Involves: Track program progress and expenditures. Ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations of grantor agencies. Complete grant reporting as required by grantor agencies. Maintain and store grant documentation audit-ready at all times, as required by regulations of grantor agencies. Review the work of employees engaged in writing grant proposals to ensure compliance with City policies and operating procedures, and federal and state regulations.

    Supervise assigned personnel. Involves: Supervise directly and through subordinate supervisors assigned staff. Schedule, assign, instruct, guide, and check work. Appraise employee performance. Provide for training and development. Enforce personnel rules and regulations and work behavior standards firmly and impartially. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. Interview applicants and recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, or other employee status changes.
