Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Environmental Management Division, located at 601 Brasilia Ave.
Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Responds to hazardous materials incidents of major scope and complexity, assesses the hazards presented by the situation, develops and follows through with the incident specific response plan by coordinating the activities of City employees, contractors, state and federal regulators.
- Conducts and reviews Phase I & II Environmental Assessments of real property at sites associated with real estate and advise the City of proposed real estate transactions.
- Conducts training on environmental topics, develops course curriculum's, and prepares instructional materials.
- Oversees the operation of hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal.
- Project manager for MCI Asbestos abatement's and site remediation.
- Prepares MDNR reports and abatement/removals for Underground Storage Tanks and UST Regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the operation and maintenance of MCI Storm water de-icing collection systems.
- Prepares technical reports and other written documents.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in in an environmentally related field such as environmental science, and related physical and life sciences, environmental engineering, and related engineering specializations, environmental law and related legal specializations; environmental studies and related management and public administration specializations; and 2 years of experience as an environmental professional; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. May be required to pass a preemployment drug screen.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
