    The City of Irvine invites you to explore a rewarding opportunity as the Great Park Maintenance Superintendent. As the steward of one of Southern California’s premier public spaces—the 1,300-acre Great Park—you will lead strategic planning, maintenance operations, and improvement initiatives to ensure our world-class amenities continue to serve residents and visitors at the highest standard.

    This position oversees facilities and landscape maintenance functions at the Great Park, ensuring alignment with the City’s mission, safety standards, and long-range strategic goals. You will work in partnership with other departments, contractors, and community stakeholders to manage a broad range of park features including event venues, athletic fields, trails, cultural and recreational spaces, and open parkland.

    This recruitment will establish an eligibility list for the Facilities Maintenance Superintendent classification, including the working title of "Great Park Maintenance Superintendent", which will expire on June 4, 2026.

    Your Impact
    • Supervise the construction, preventative and corrective maintenance of all sports fields and facilities; supervise staff; allocate resources effectively.
    • Uphold and enforce safety regulations, building codes, ADA compliance, and maintenance standards across all facilities.
    • Prepare clear and concise reports to executive management, Commissions, and City Council.
    • Develop and implement long-term work plans and budgets that align with the City’s Strategic Business Plan.
    • Negotiate, monitor, and evaluate contractor performance; manage RFPs IFBs, contracts, and service scopes.
    • Integrate maintenance technology systems for work planning and forecasting, inventory control, irrigation water management and project planning.
    • Lead critical responses to urgent or hazardous park facility issues and coordinate corrective actions.
    • Act as liaison to other departments, vendors, and the public, ensuring responsive and transparent communication.

    Best Fit
    • A professional with a strong background in facilities maintenance management, athletic field management, budget and procurement experience, and supervisory roles.
    • Able to create and execute comprehensive maintenance plans utilizing budgets with multiple funding sources while navigating operational challenges and compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.
    • Working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields turf grass and synthetic surfaces; understanding of the sport's governing bodies' requirements for field layouts and markings; knowledgeable in building systems, project planning, OSHA regulations, and public facilities codes.
    • Dedicated to providing a clean, safe, and engaging park experience to a diverse community.
    • Capable of effectively coordinating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and public stakeholders.
    • Continuously looking for ways to improve operations, enhance sustainability, and elevate park standards.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management and Maintenance, Business Management, Public Administration, Engineering or related field.
    • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in facility maintenance management, including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license may be required.
