    TYPE OF RECRUITMENT:
    We welcome applications from County employees currently within the Department of Human Resources who have finished their initial probationary period.

    Current employees in the unclassified service who meet the following criteria also qualify to participate in this exam:
    • Unclassified employees who have attained permanent County status on a classified position by successfully completing the initial probationary period and have had no break in service since leaving the classified service.
      - OR -
    • Full-time employees in the unclassified service with at least six months of full-time experience in the unclassified service by the last day of filing the application.

    Essential Job Functions

    What an Administrative Analyst does:
    • Under general supervision, researches and analyzes data necessary to solve problems.
    • Makes suggestions for improvement of administration within major departmental programs, operations, and administrative practices.
    • Researches, analyzes, and makes recommendations for the solution of complex problems related to budget, personnel, organization, program, procedure, or capital projects

    Withhold information
    Permanent employees having completed their initial probationary period and are currently participating in the County of Los Angeles Administrative Intern Program may file for this examination if they are within six months of completing it at the time of filing. However, the names of such employees will be withheld from the certification list until they have completed the program.

    Endorsement of county qualifications:
    Out-of-Class or Verification of Experience Letters will not be accepted. Applicants must be participants of Los Angeles County's Administrative Intern Program and have successfully completed the program or are within Withhold duration.

    Requirements

    Minimum requirements:
    Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university -AND- Successful completion of the County of Los Angeles Administrative Intern Program.
    License:
    A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to apply an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related functions.

    Physical class:
    Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

    Examination content:
    This examination will consist of a multiple choice and/or simulation assessment, weighted 100%, assessing the following competencies required for this job.

    These assessments fall under Civil Service Rule 7.19, which means you are not able to review the questions or your responses once you have completed the assessment.

    Applicants must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the multiple-choice and/or simulation assessment(s) in order to be placed on the eligible list.
    MULTIPLE-CHOICE AND/OR SIMULATION ASSESSMENTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.

    Scores cannot be given over the telephone.

    Transfer of Test Components:
    If you recently took identical components for other exams, the test responses may be automatically transferred to this examination.
    This exam contains test components that might be used on future exams, and your responses could be transferred to that exam.
    Test preparation:
    We provide study guides and other test preparation resources to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides may help in preparing for the test, we recommend reviewing all related materials that seem necessary.

    Eligibility and Vacancy Information:
    Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of 6 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies as they occur.
