OverviewAre you skilled in construction management and have experience in road and bridge construction? Larimer County Engineering is seeking an innovative, experienced, and self-motivated Construction Manager to join our Capital Improvements Group!
The Engineering Department provides surveying, engineering design, and construction management services for infrastructure capital improvement projects. Our team works in development review, floodplains, stormwater, asset management, traffic engineering, and land acquisition. We also collaborate with many county departments on various projects such as work related to the road and bridge system, phased closures of the County operated landfill, and coordinating the construction of trails and campgrounds for the Natural Resources Department.
The typical schedule for this position is 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends or early starts.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you'll be doing:
- Manage construction projects to ensure they stay on budget, meet contractual requirements, and stay on schedule.
- Inspect a variety of structures-including utilities, roads, bridges, and culverts-to verify they meet design plans, specifications, and regulations; make objective, impartial decisions in the field.
- Prepare project documentation, including daily logs, contractor pay applications, quantity tracking, financial reports, and final closeout materials such as as-built drawings.
- Respond to public inquiries and provide information related to Engineering, Road and Bridge, drainage projects, and improvement district work.
- Negotiate and execute Change Orders in response to unforeseen conditions or design modifications during construction.

What we're looking for:
- Strong knowledge of construction and engineering principles, particularly related to public works projects such as roads and storm drainage, along with standard construction management practices.
- Familiarity with construction materials inspection, sampling, and testing procedures.
- Proficiency with common business and office software, including PDF editing tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation applications.
- Experience using CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction (or a comparable set of standards).
- Solid understanding of construction-related mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and engineering drawings.
- Experience with land surveying techniques and tools.

Construction Manager I
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in Construction Management is required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire, required.
Construction Manager II
- Three (3) years of experience as a Construction Manager I in Larimer County, or in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities, required.
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience in Construction Management is required. Related education or experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) or the Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) training as a Traffic Control Supervisor preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License by date of hire, required.
