Through academic affiliations with the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Sciences (CDU), DHS hospitals are training sites for physicians completing their Graduate Medical Education in nearly every medical specialty and subspecialty. In addition, to its direct clinical services, DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the County's 911 emergency response system, as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Re-entry, each with a meaningful role in connecting vulnerable populations, including those released from correctional and institutional settings, to supportive housing.

THE TEAM MEMBER WE ARE SEARCHING FOR: Drives single unit trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of at least 10,000 pounds and less than 26,001 pounds.
Essential Job FunctionsWhat are some of the responsibilities of Medium Truck Driver:
Picks up and delivers furniture, equipment, produce, and supplies between County facilities including institutions, camps, warehouses, offices, branch libraries and recreational areas.
Transports work crews, materials, tools, and equipment to job locations and may participate in or assist in supervising the work of a crew.
Hauls gravel, sand, soil, and other materials.
Operates accessory equipment such as pumps, winches, snow plows, etc.
Inspects trucks to ensure conformance with safety regulations and practices and that they are properly serviced; performs routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs and adjustments to truck and reports mechanical defects.
Loads and unloads trucks driven and may participate in the storing or moving of materials in warehouses or other buildings.
Ensures that truck is checked and serviced for preventive maintenance and repair.
Maintains records and prepares reports.
Pulls small trailer-mounted equipment such as generators, compressors, cement mixers, toolboxes, etc.
Occasionally drives heavy single unit trucks with a GVWR of more than 26,000 pounds or combination truck units with trailers of 6,000 pounds GVWR or more as needed.
Requirements REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY: One (1) year of experience as a driver, including experience in the operation of trucks with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or more.
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions. Some positions may require a valid California Class A or Class B Driver License or a special endorsement to drive assigned vehicles.
PHYSICAL CLASS IV - ARDUOUS: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Additional points will be awarded for additional experience beyond the Minimum Requirements.
Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT: This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based upon application information and desirable qualifications weighted 100%.
The passing score for the assessment is 70% ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION: Applications are processed as they are received and added to the eligible register accordingly.
Candidates who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a register in order of their score group for a period of (12) months. We will use this list to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Health Services as they occur.
