Wake County Human Services seeks an experienced
Child Welfare Trainer to facilitate learning for staff towards the goal of improving practice and use of technology within practice. This position will provide training on best practice models and state policy for Child Welfare staff. Position will also assist with training needed for successful implementation of our local and the state automated case management systems.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Developing and delivering professional training and support to social workers, social work supervisors, management, and other Child Welfare staff as outlined in Training Plan
- Tracking all data related to assigned training and other tasks using, at a minimum, the method approved by Supervisor
Researching policy/best practices and evaluating the research and other data to assess practice needs - Writing, researching and synthesizing complex content, in collaboration with subject matter experts, into relevant, applicable and understandable sequences of information to achieve applied learning and skill development among training participants
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of Child Welfare laws, policies and best practices
- Delivering training in compliance with all applicable policies, rules, Federal/State statues, and Wake County Core Values
- Developing and designing effective interactive presentations using a variety of software applications and other technology
- Researching answers to frequently asked questions, collaborating with subject matter experts and documenting questions/concerns/efforts to find accurate answers/potential solutions
- Evaluating trainings using data from participants and management to identify and address areas in need of improvement

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Bachelor's degree
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Public Policy or related human service field
- At least two years of experience supervising direct practice and/or training in child welfare
- Experience developing, evaluating, and delivering course curriculum
- Knowledge of adult learning styles and training best practices
How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning styles and how to deliver effective training to adults
- Positive outcomes delivering effective educational presentations using various virtual platforms and settings
- Demonstrated experience in creating and delivering dynamic training presentations
- Demonstrated ability to write and present succinct and informative communication, which conveys clear and concise meaning
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Competency in using Office 365 products and other training-related technology
- Possess a thorough knowledge of current law, policy and effective social work practice
- Comfortable with working in a face-paced environment
- Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to manage training or other continuous improvement projects to ensure they are completed, evaluated, and adhere to agency’s approved model
