    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are looking for a Court Liaison Supervisor who will supervise the Court Liaison Unit, which is responsible for accepting, processing, and distributing all court related documents including subpoenas and Notice of Depositions. Tracks and approves all Court overtime requests. Serve as a primary point of contact between the police department, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and court officials. Works collaboratively with all parties to resolve issues related to missed court appearances, late filings, or documentation discrepancies.

    This job classification is included within the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and therefore is subject to the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Federation of Public Employees.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.     • Supervises, coordinates personnel staffing in Court Liaison Unit
    • Supervises and trains staff to ensure performance expectations are met.
    • Supervises the completion of paperwork for case filing; maintains appropriate logs; meets with the judiciary, State Attorney's Office, Public Defenders Office and the County Court Clerk to resolve problems.
    • Plans, assigns and reviews the work of Court Liaison Specialists engaged in receiving and accounting for all criminal, quasi-criminal and civil subpoenas and court processes issued for and by members of the Police Department.
    • Coordinates daily uploading of Case Filing reports to digital evidence storage system from Patrol and the Records Unit
    • Determines work procedures, prepares and administers work schedules and expedites workflow. Assigns duties and examines work in conformance to policies and procedures.
    • Tracks court case status and schedules department members for Court
    • Updates and informs department members regarding court standby status.
    • Facilitates timely communication to department members of Court policies, rules and closures.
    • Reviews subpoenas to ensure no duplication of court dates
    • Ensures process servers have access to serve court paperwork.
    • Approves all court overtime for department members.
    • Responds to attorney requests for court documents and digital media.
    • Performs related work as required


    JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency Three (3) years of court liaison, law enforcement or court administration related experience. At least one (1) year of previous supervisory experience requiredAn in-depth employment background check, including a polygraph exam, will be conducted as part of the post offer onboarding process as this position is deemed security sensitive.If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form (J-204) to the online application.
    As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

    PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
    The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
