    Description

    This is a service maintenance position in the installation and maintenance of traffic and street signs and the application of pavement markers. This position reports to assigned supervisor. Works a forty (40) hour week. May require overtime.

    Examples of Duties

    • Assists with the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repairs of traffic and street signs.
    • Assists with painting pavement markings with striping machine, brush, spray gun and other equipment as necessary.
    • Operates a motor vehicle to and from work sites and picks up supplies and equipment.
    • Prepares and maintains records on completed tasks.
    • Provides information, answers questions, and obtains clarification on issues related to traffic and street signs and pavement markings.
    • Uses shovels, posthole diggers, hand tools, air compressors and jackhammers.
    • Performs manual labor such as digging holes and lifting, loading and unloading materials and equipment.
    • Assists in traffic signal maintenance with supervision/training.
    • Attends and completes periodic technical training related to highway signage, maintenance and installation duties.
    • Completes all written documentation related to the job function.

    Typical Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    • High school graduate or equivalency diploma, unless exempt as provided for in the Local 630 Collective Bargaining Agreement.


    Licenses, Certifications or Registrations
    • Possession of a valid State Drivers License.
    • Must obtain and maintain a FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (IMOT) Certification within six (6) months of hire.

    FLORIDA RETIREMENT SYSTEM (FRS) The Florida Retirement System is a retirement plan designed to provide an income to a vested employee and his/her family when the employee retires, becomes partially or totally disabled, or dies prior to retirement. A defined benefit or defined contribution option may be chosen by the employee. Employees are required to contribute 3% of their salary per Florida Statute.

    TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The County may provide tuition assistance to cover the cost of tuition and books to County employees requesting tuition reimbursement for courses at an accredited college or university which are applicable to the employee's field of work and/or are of such nature to directly prepare employees for positions of greater responsibility within the County.     0 through the end of the 4th year 180
    5 years through the end of the 10th year 200
    11 years through the end of the 15th year 220
    16 years and over 240
