Salary Range: $5,173-$7,759/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework schedule available after 6-month probationary period completed

Responsibilities
Professional staff position that handles the responsibility for day-to-day operation of a virtualized server environment including multiple hosts, and dozens of VMs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists lower-level IT staff with more complex technical problems and solutions.
- Performs work under limited supervision.
- Coordinates department needs across the server environment.
- Meets business and user needs while maintaining adherence to policies and procedures.
- Ensures daily backups are completed, tested, and functional.
- Handles provision of new virtual servers and desktops as needed.
- Communicates effectively with management and stakeholders regarding any issues that affect daily functions.
- Assists in complex projects in a competent fashion.
- Maintains compliance with best practices regarding server configurations, backups, and user access.
- Performs routine patching of the ESXi hosts, virtual server and desktop operating systems, and server applications.
- Performs hardware upgrades/replacement/retirement on server and storage hardware.
- Performs product evaluation of hardware/software for feature improvements, feasibility or applicability to existing products being used by the organization.
- Provides staff training of server systems and applications, as needed.
- Maintains documentation of server systems including configuration, procedures, and other pertinent information.
- Ensures team meets weekly KPIs regarding ticket completion, server up time, etc.
- Performs daily monitoring of the health and function of server hardware, storage hardware, virtual environment, and all VMs contained therein.
- Works with users, desktop support staff, application developers, and application administrators to resolve functional issues and accommodate new needs.
- Communicates maintenance windows or other system outages to all stakeholders.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude regarding embracing change and continuous improvement.
- Works after hours and weekends, as needed, to support any down/ out of service systems and coordinate IT resources.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of technology experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and technology experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
