    in Dynamic Wake County!


    Wake County Public Libraries is searching for a new Library Branch Manager for the Richard B. Harrison Community Library . The library is located at 1313 New Bern Avenue, just east of downtown Raleigh. The library has a rich history as the first library to serve the African-American community and will celebrate its 90th anniversary in November 2025. Richard B. Harrison Community Library was founded by Mollie Huston Lee and in addition to being a library for the neighborhood community, houses the Mollie Huston Lee Special Book Collection begun in 1935 by Mrs. Lee to reflect the African diaspora and the African-American experience.

    The Library Manager is responsible for the facility and operations, managing the program experience and supervising a team of Librarians, Library Assistants and Pages. Managers have the opportunity to collaborate with peers and participate in system projects and initiatives.

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Managing the facility and daily operations
    • Supervising 2.5 FTE of Librarians, 5 FTE of Library Assistants and Pages
    • Ensuring that the programs and services meet the needs of the community
    • Engaging in outreach initiatives to reach and support library neighbors in Southeast Raleigh
    • Partnering with Collection Development Services to manage the ongoing preservation and development of the Mollie Huston Lee Special Book Collection

    Library Managers typically work 8:15-5:15 on weekdays and may be required to work nights and weekends.

    The Basics (Required Education and Experience)

    • Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
    • One year of experience as a librarian
    • Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

    Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

    • Three years of professional public library experience One year of public library management experience

    Work Schedule: 40 hrs. per week, M-F 8:15-5:15; some nights and weekends

    Hiring Range: 66,270 - 89,467

    Market Range: 66,270.00 - 112,663.00
