Duties may vary based on assignment and location of work (office, library, outdoors, etc.).Essential Job Functions- This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 20 pounds on occasion.
- Assists department staff with daily tasks such as entering data into the computer, ensuring forms and documents are completed and accurate, conducting and completing research, and processing various forms and documents. Provides customer service by providing information and directions as requested. Assists with special events and special projects as needed.
- Provides desktop computer support by installing new or existing applications, loading operating systems and required applications onto desktop computers for new and current employees, performing upgrades and software patches as necessary, troubleshooting network, desktop computer, and system problems, and making essential repairs.
- Maintains software applications by troubleshooting, patching, and reloading software. Upgrades, repairs, and replaces broken or defective hardware such as computers, printers, monitors, peripherals, and cables. Works with IT staff on hardware and software deployment projects.
- Provides customer service by answering helpdesk calls, entering and monitoring service requests in the Service Desk System, responding to emails, and assisting users with computer operating system or application problems. Provides help with desktop applications by working with customers in troubleshooting situations to help them achieve their goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Must have a High School Diploma or GED and currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Applicants for this position should be an Undergraduate or Graduate student.
Experience: No experience is necessary.
License: Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
For city employees who are regular part time (10-19 hours per week) or seasonal hired placed on City payroll, the following benefits are provided:
- PARS - Public Agency Retirement System: the employee contributes 6.2% each paycheck to this retirement system and the city provides 1.3%. The employee does not pay into Social Security. All of the employees contributions may be withdrawn upon separating service from the city. The City's contributions will not be paid unless the employee retires under the system.
- Part time or seasonal employees are not eligible for any paid leave or other benefits.
- Part time or seasonal employees are limited to working only 1,000 hours per 12-month period, unless the seasonal is project based for a specific period of time which is typically less than 12-months.
