What You'll Be DoingWe are currently seeking a
Public Health Nurse to provide nursing care to women who come to the
Women's Health Clinic at Wake County Health and Human Services. We specialize in helping women reach their goals, whether through care that helps them stay or become healthy, family planning methods to achieve their reproductive life plan, or social work, primary care, or specialty referral. The successful candidate will be skilled in working with a diverse population of patients, and enjoy providing excellent services in a busy clinic setting.
This position will provide the following services:- Family planning education, Advocate planned pregnancies, Provide health promotion and disease prevention services
- Interview and assess clients
- Document visits in the Electronic Medical Record per protocol
- Assess and administer immunizations as needed
- Perform urine pregnancy testing
- Assist health providers with examinations and procedures
- Conduct medical interventions as ordered by physician
- Provide educational materials and information pertinent to client visit
- Make referrals to intradepartmental and community resources such as Prenatal Clinic, WIC, social worker, nutritionist, Domestic Violence services
- Medicaid and Community providers
- Assist with supervision of CNA and CMA, and serve as preceptor to Nursing Students and volunteers

Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
- No specific experience required
- Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse as issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - 6 months experience as a nurse strongly preferred
- Four year Bachelor's degree in nursing strongly preferred (BSN)
- Women's Health experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- RN License in NC
- CPR certified
