Job Description The Training Coordinator in the ESTI Public Sector Extension Program, under general supervision of the Regional Training Managers, coordinates training schedules and deliveries, works with the point of contact at host agencies, schedules travel of wage instructors, and markets/sells training classes. Serves as the subject matter specialist for curriculum development. Recruits adjunct instructors and monitors performance. Assists with special events and/or projects as assigned.
This is a telecommuter position, and the Coordinator must reside in Region 2. TEEX Regional Map .This position reports to the Regional Training Manager.
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of related experience in project coordination, curriculum development and/or delivery of training for emergency/public safety services.
Equivalency: Will consider an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of project coordination, curriculum development and/or delivery of training for emergency/public safety services or a High School Diploma/GED with six years of project coordination, curriculum development and/or delivery of training for emergency/public safety services.
Required Licenses/Certifications: - Certified NFPA 1041 Instructor 1 or equivalent.
- Completion of ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 within 6 months for hire date
- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Associate’s degree with 5 years of related experience.
- High School / GED with 10 years of related experience.
- 10 years of related experience in the Emergency Response Industry.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in training or adult education.
- TCFP or Pro-Board-Certified Instructor III.
Physical Requirements:- Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat.
- Ability to support training delivery for up to 8-10 hours/day. (standing)
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to regularly use computer/keyboard.
- Physical conditioning consistent with performing firefighting/rescue/training exercises, movement of training equipment, wearing personal protective equipment as needed, setting up a classroom, designing, developing, and deploying curriculum for classroom and online training delivery.
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.
- Ability to move up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Skilled at oral communications and presentations.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
- Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
- Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies.
- Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.
Equipment: - Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone.
- Standard instruction aids, including but not limited to, presentation software, projectors, projection screens, pointers, teleconferencing equipment.
- Fire Service-related equipment and resources, specifically those used in the Leadership / TFOP courses.

- As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.
- Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
- This position may require 40% or more travel outside the assigned Region.
- This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.
- Employment in this role is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and will also be subject to random drug screening per DOT regulation.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages: Provide Course and Program Coordination - 80%- Coordinates and supports training deliveries for assigned projects.
- Develops, updates, and refines project budgets.
- Delivers training as lead instructor in support of project areas or other division classes.
- Facilitates training courses.
- Supports subject matter expert requirements associated with curriculum design efforts linked to web-based learning.
- Assists staff with review and refinement of curriculum.
- Assists other program areas to meet training deliveries associated with specialized knowledge area.
- Coordinates, plans, and manages special events.
Provides Course Instruction / Delivery - 15%- Coordinates and delivers a course of instruction, sometimes remotely.
- Manages student registration, accountability and completion requirements for a course.
- Travels to deliver courses.
- Works cooperatively with other instructors and skills evaluators for course delivery.
Professional Development, Required Training and Non-Delivery Travel - 5%- Seeks out, attends and promotes professional development opportunities.
- Completes all required training as assigned.
- Travels for Professional Development, conferences, sales opportunities, customer engagement and other work-related needs as required.
