About the Role:In addition to role-specific job duties outlined further below, this position can be expected to:
- Support grant administration activities and assist with contract compliance
- Analyze and make recommendations for grant administration process improvements and for improving equity throughout the grantmaking cycle.
- Maintain grant files and communication records to ensure audit and public record request readiness.
- Review and compile programmatic data to analyze the results and outcomes of grant programs.
- Developing and delivering new grant programs that minimize King County’s carbon footprint, create more green jobs, divert waste from the landfill, and ensure that everyone in King County has equitable access to waste and recycling services.
About the Team:The King County Solid Waste Division (KCSWD) is responsible for the public solid waste system that serves the people and communities of unincorporated King County and most cities within King County. KCSWD is the lead King County Agency for delivering goals of the Re+/Zero Waste of Resources (ZWoR) program for the region, which will reduce valuable materials sent to the landfill by up to 70%. KCSWD operates the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill, ten transfer facilities, nine closed landfills, and many programs to design out waste and pollution, keep products and materials in use and regenerate natural systems.
The Recycling and Environmental Services (RES) Section leads the Division’s efforts on prevention, reuse, recycling, product stewardship/Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), policy, market development, environmental stewardship, the circular economy, Re+ (King County’s Zero Waste of Resources Initiative), green building, household hazardous waste collection, green school education, grant program management, resource recovery, waste stream integrity, and several compliance programs including on waste stream compliance & enforcement.

- Tracking deadlines/monitoring grant progress/deliverables and milestones.
- Processing reimbursement requests.
- Reconciling expenses and grant closeout.
- Provide technical assistance and support to grant applicants, recipients, and partners.
- Providing equitable communications to grantees helping them to develop scope of work and understand milestones and deliverables.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, SkillsQualifications You Bring: - Knowledge and experience with administrating and coordinating multiple grants and grant programs, with direct grants experience, and/or transferrable skills and educational equivalent
- Experience working collaboratively on a grants team and independently with little supervision assisting grantees with the grants process, from the application stage to reporting and final closeout.
- Demonstrated experience handling administrative tasks of grants coordination, such as managing applications, award process, scope of work documentation, deliverables and milestones reporting, successfully managing grant cycle timelines for several grants
- Experience with multi-cultural outreach and/or interfacing with small non-profits and NGO’s.
- Strong communication skills including writing/proofreading, making presentations, and communicating cross-culturally with diverse partners.
- Experience providing equitable assistance and/or mentoring to grantees in the grants application and documentation stages of award, skill in culturally sensitive and diverse population communications,
- Computer skills using MS Software (i.e. Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Planner, Project, Word etc.)

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:- Remote and Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically 1-2 times per month. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104). This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance.
- Remote Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
- Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
- Union Representation: This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117 P&T.
