Active Employee Benefits | AustinTexas.gov POSITION OVERVIEW :The Watershed Protection Department maintains the stormwater infrastructure network for the City of Austin, including drainage pipes, inlets, headwalls, and stormwater control measures (ponds). Location, size, age, and elevation information for these assets are tracked in a detailed spatial dataset ( GIS ).
This position will perform advanced data entry on stormwater infrastructure GIS datasets and will perform updates to stormwater ponds and stormwater infrastructure networks. Sources for data entry will include construction plans and CCTV inspection files. Additionally, this position will work as a part of a team and will perform peer reviews of work completed by other team members. Other tasks may be assigned to support Watershed Protection staff as needed.
TRAVEL :
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin
Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Pay Range
$27.41 - $33.30 per hour
Hours
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday with the ability for a 60% telework schedule per week after initial training period. Exceptions may apply subject to the business needs of the department.
May require working outside of normal business hours, including emergency events, evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.

- Experience with Esri’s ArcGIS product suite.
- Experience working in a production GIS environment, including versioned editing, editing on an Enterprise Geodatabase ( EGDB SDE ), or working as part of a team to complete GIS -related tasks.
- Experience working with stormwater infrastructure or any other utility, including data entry, field location, or in any other capacity.
- Experience collaborating with others and delivering customer service online and in-person.
- Ability to travel to more than one work location.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Produces and/or analyzes data from various sources to produce data sets, cartographic layouts, and reports in accordance with specifications and standards. Assists in the design and implementation of and/or performs data management activities such as modifying elements and assigning privileges. Assists with programming activities such as design, development, testing, debugging, documentation, and modification of geospatial applications. Researches and interprets source records and documents. Performs business process analysis and develops alternatives, making recommendations. Responds to requests for information from internal and external customers. Assists with the creation, publication, implementation, and improvement of IT policies, governance, standards, and security. Installs new software releases and/or upgrades including researching, testing, and implementing new geospatial technology. Communicates and interfaces with members of the IT, vendor, and user communities.
