    The Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD)’s Financial Management Division is accepting applications to fill an Accounting Clerk position.

    The position is located at EWDD’s temporary work location at the Industrious building - 444 South Flower, 14th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90071. A hybrid work schedule is currently available.

    POSITION DETAILS

    The duties of this position include, but may not be limited to:

    • Assists in the preparation of financial grant reports required by federal, state and local grantors, the Controller’s Office, CAO and EWDD management. Ensures compliance with the Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200 and other applicable federal, state, local grant regulations, City contract provisions and performs critical cash management functions.
    • Prepares and processes the necessary accounting documents in the City’s Financial Management System (FMS) including but not limited to budget and appropriation accounts set-up, invoices for payments, encumbrances and disbursements for General and Special funds.
    • Provides technical assistance to program monitors and sub-recipients on fiscal matters related to proper internal control procedures, reporting requirement, record keeping, federal regulations and other grant/contract-imposed requirements. Assists in obtaining documentations and/or reports required by the internal and external auditors during periodic auditing and monitoring on the department. Sets up and maintains accounting, grants management and other related files and records.
    • Answers and resolves in a timely manner all telephone and/or email inquiries on financial reporting requirements, or refers such inquiries to the appropriate staff. Performs other related duties that may be assigned on an as-needed basis.


    QUALIFICATIONS

    Candidates that have successfully completed a probationary period in the classification of Accounting Clerk, are welcome to apply.

    SELECTION PROCESS

    A screening process may be applied to determine a reasonable number of candidates with the most relevant background and experience to interview. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the interview process for further evaluation. As a part of the selection process, present and former supervisors may be contacted and a review of personnel folders may be conducted. A performance exercise may also be given.
