Job Summary Performs administrative and professional work in public and media relations by providing oversight of all internal and external communications for the Economic Development Department, including the Orlando Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency (“DDB/CRA”). Responsibilities include serving as a secondary spokesperson for the Economic Development Department Director and the DDB/CRA Executive Director , responding to news media inquiries, coordinating appearances by leadership, composing talking points and press releases. An employee assigned to this position is responsible for website content development and social media account management. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Economic Development Department Director. Performance is reviewed through conferences, reports submitted, and results achieved.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with major coursework in Public Administration, Public Relations, Journalism or Communications, or related field and four (4) years of professional experience developing and administering communication and public relation programs; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Driver's License required. Master’s degree with coursework in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations a plus.

- Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
- Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
- Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
- Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
