    San Bernardino County , Office of County Counsel is seeking a Worker's Compensation Executive Administrative Assistant to join their team.

    The Workers' Compensation Executive Administrative Assistant will assist and support attorneys and paralegals with workers’ compensation matters.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Process, prepare, and file documents for the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
    • Draft advocacy letters.
    • Prepare, gather and organize schedule of records and medical records for medical-legal evaluations.
    • Prepare settlement documents and supporting documentation for WCAB approval.
    • Utilize EAMS/FileNet for document processing and e-file submissions with the WCAB.
    • Manage legal document preparation and filing.
    • Compose and format correspondence and legal documents.
    • Stay current on WCAB rules, regulations, and procedural updates.
    • Schedule meetings, track deadlines, and maintain attorneys’ calendars.
    • Arrange travel and coordinate logistics.

    This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of workers’ compensation procedures and legal processes.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

    Work Environment: Incumbents must operate with a high level of confidentiality and discretion when performing job duties.

    Minimum Requirements

    At least two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience as an administrative assistant in a legal setting, providing support for workers' compensation and litigation with responsibilities that include handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion, collecting and analyzing data, and drafting and formatting legal correspondence and documents.
    --AND--

    Typing: 50 w.p.m. corrected typing speed.

    Substitution: Bachelor's in public/business administration, management, behavioral/social science, accounting/finance or other relevant field of study may substitute for one (1) year of the required administrative assistant experience.

    Experience must be within the past five (5) years.

    NOTE: Duties must be clearly described in the work history section to be considered and appropriately placed for assigned duties within County Counsel. General Clerical experience, Internships, and Clerkships are not considered qualifying work experience. Qualifying experience is typically equivalent to the San Bernardino County Administrative Assistant classification and above.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have experience as a legal assistant supporting attorneys in a workers’ compensation law firm in the past two years and be knowledgeable in WCAB processes and procedures and have the ability to effectively communicate with opposing counsel’s offices, vendors, medical offices, WCAB personnel, and lien claimants.
