  • Job Description

    Introduction

    Provides direct instruction, coordination, mentoring and monitoring of early learning programming for families with children ages 0-5. This position will work directly with children and families on a daily basis.

    Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $30.13/hour .

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Family Studies or related field is required from an accredited educational institution.
    • Two years of paid work experience in an educational setting with children from birth to age five and experience providing trainings for/or working with adults.
    • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted
    • Preferred: Master's Degree.
    • Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish.

    Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
    • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
    • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.


    Essential Functions

    Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following:
    • Participates in planning and implementing special children's programming for families with children ages birth to five.
    • Works with parents and children.
    • Listens, communicates and interacts positively with co-workers to enhance effectiveness of work unit and to promote productivity of work team.
    • Performs data entry tasks for computerized databases.
    • Communicates effectively and engages in front of large groups of children and/or adults.
    • Operates a motor vehicle in order to perform outreach activities and meet with program participants.


    Work Environment/Physical Demands

    • Most work is performed in a City office environment.
    • Lift and carry office materials, food boxes, donated items, tables and chairs up to 50 pounds.
    • Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, copy and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
    • Travel to/from meetings and various City locations.
    • Work evening and weekend hours as needed.

    PLEASE NOTE: Years of experience are based on a work schedule of 2,080 hours per year for full-time positions and 1,040 hours per year for part-time positions, and while work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, depending upon the job classification, education may not be substituted for work experience.
