    Minimum Experience Requirements:

    This position is open to all Civil Engineers currently employed full-time by the City of Los Angeles.

    Summary of Duties:

    The Civil Engineer position will manage Public Building and Open Space projects as needed. The incumbent will manage a multi-disciplinary design team, comprised of city staff and/or consultants to ensure that the project design is on schedule and on budget and meets quality standards.

    The incumbent will conduct meetings with client agencies and regulatory agencies for construction plans review, scheduling, budgeting design changes and other construction-related matters.

    During Project bid and award phase reviews, analyzes, and prepares recommendations for all bid documents and specifications including interpretation and review recommendations for project award.

    This position will conduct construction job site observation and meetings with general contractors, client departments, and project consultants regarding plan review, scheduling, and budgets. Manages project budget to ensure project is on budget, sufficiently funded, and prepared reports for additional project funding if required. Recommends payment of consultant and vendor invoices.

    This position will supervise a group, preparers, and review correspondence, board reports, project reports, cost estimates, quality estimates, change orders, construction drawings, and plan clarifications.
