Description: Job Description Summary: The
Public Health Registered Dietitian (RD) provides counseling services to clients of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program and Nutrition Services Programs, for the Jefferson County Department of Public Health located in Lakewood . Depending on business needs, this position will require traveling to other WIC Clinics located in Arvada, Wheat Ridge, or Littleton. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required . In this role you will find a cohesive team of people-oriented individuals who bring their body, mind, and heart to work to support the community and each other.
The Public Health Registered Dietitian is a great opportunity for someone who is a current Registered Dietitian Or Registration Eligible and ready to sit for the RD Exam.
Jefferson County WIC's mission is: To safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutrition risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care .

S chedule: The WIC Schedule is as follows: Monday and Thursdays 8-5 in office, Tuesday 8-6 remote, Wednesday 7:30-3:30 in office, and Friday 7:30-3:30 remote. W orking at multiple clinic locations will be required for this role.
Compensation: Target Hiring Range: $ 67,073 - 74,526 USD Annually
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.
Essential Duties: The Registered Dietitian is responsible for :
- Assessing a client's nutrition status, developing and implementing appropriate care plans, providing nutrition education, and collaborating with and providing referrals to community resources as needed.
- Conducting dietary assessment and analysis of nutrition status and feeding behaviors of WIC clients.
- Analysis includes interviews, review of dietary intake, medical histories, Anthropometrics, assessing levels of nutritional risk, assessment of home environment, use of computerized nutrition analysis as needed for appropriate documentation , follow up, and development of individualized nutrition care plans.
- Collaborating with WIC educators by providing high-risk interventions to patients who need higher level of care.
- Providing one-on-one counseling and individual instruction to breastfeeding clients on the use of a breast pump if the RD determines a pump is needed to sustain the mom-baby nursing relationship.
- Providing clients with resources and referrals to other community agencies.
- Communicating with community agencies and medical providers to stay up to date on client prescriptions and health concerns.
- Supporting the dietetic internship program through mentorship and shadowing opportunities.

M inimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, dietetics or directly related field
- One year related work experience
- And/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD), or Registered Dietitian Eligible
- If RD Eligible, must pass RD exam within 90 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications: - Registered Dietitian preferred.
- Spanish speaking highly preferred.
- WIC experience preferred.
- A dditional training and knowledge in lactation preferred
