Position DescriptionTacoma Power's Power Shared Services department is seeking a talented Portfolio Management Supervisor to join our Team!
This position is the subject-matter expert for Tacoma Power's Project Portfolio Management System (PPMS), statistical models, and data processes. Computer programming and statistical methodologies are used for data management and to develop predictive models used for decision-making and management of the project portfolio.
Responsibilities:- Strategic Planning: Establish vision and goals for managing the Power Project Portfolio and implementation of the Project Portfolio Management System (PPMS); analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; determine next steps; implement the plan; monitor and control progress of the plan.
- Supervise, Coach and Mentor: Set expectations, direct work, and provide guidance to the Project Portfolio Analyst.
- Acquire, Evaluate, Extract and Process Data: Define and develop the data structures for managing Tacoma Power's project portfolio, use coding language to validate and transform project portfolio data, and build data pipelines to make project portfolio backend data easily accessible for users.
- Models, Dashboards, Metrics and Reports: Create and establish statistical forecasting models, monitoring dashboards, key performance indicators and project portfolio management reports for Tacoma Power leadership. Utilize industry standards, best practices, organization needs, and institutional knowledge as guides.
- Prepare Presentations for Various Audiences: Build complex reports and develop presentations for frontline staff, steering committees, leadership teams to convey analytical outputs and recommendations.
Qualifications Minimum Education* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or directly related field.
Minimum Experience* 2 years of experience in statistical analysis, forecasting, or financial/operational modeling.
*Equivalency: 1 year of directly related work experience = 1 year of relevant higher education
Knowledge & Skills Required Skills: Understanding of basic SmartSheet functionality
Desired Skills: Advanced SmartSheet functionality (including not limited to: Control Center, Dynamic View, Data Mesh, Pivot etc.)

Other Employment Information
Direct Deposit: Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule by direct deposit.
Salary Increases: Based on satisfactory job performance, the City provides for a regular progression of salary increases for most classifications according to the salary schedule.
Union Affiliation: Many job classifications are covered by union security provisions which require union membership, dues, or payment of equivalent service fees.
