PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Bastrop State Park, 100 Park Road 1A, Bastrop, TX, 78602
GENERAL DESCRIPTION :
Under the direction of the Park Superintendent, performs highly complex (senior-level) state park operations work and is responsible for the operation of Bastrop State Park aquatic facility. Manages and supervises aquatic staff and daily operations of aquatic facility. Serves as Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Lifeguard Instructor. Ensures the safety and well-being of visitors and staff by ensuring safety protocols are implemented and enforced within the facility. Enforces policies, rules, and regulations. Responsibilities include oversight of aquatic operations, grounds maintenance, revenue collection, concession operations, staff training and development, oversees alternative workforce to include volunteers, and customer service. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
Experience :
Three years of experience in (1) general maintenance; (2) revenue collection; OR (3) public relations.
NOTE : Experience may have occurred concurrently.
Licensure :
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 12 months of employment, a TPWD approved (Red Cross or equivalent) Lifeguard certification with CPR/First Aid.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 12 months of employment, a TPWD approved (Red Cross or equivalent) Lifeguard Instructor certification.
Must possess or be able to obtain, within 6 months of employment, a Certified Pool Operator Certification issued by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) or equivalent certification.
NOTE : Retention of position contingent upon maintaining required licenses and certifications.
ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTIONS :
Education :
One year of experience in facility, equipment, or grounds maintenance may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience :
Experience in aquatic facility management;
Experience in working with the public.
One year of experience as a supervisor or team leader, which may include oversight of paid staff, volunteers, or alternative workforce.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Required to work in a public park with overnight camping;
Required to work 40 hours per week, includes flexible schedules with hours other than 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and days off other than Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays;
Required to respond to emergency situations;
Required to travel 5% with possible overnight stays;
Required to perform work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions;
Required to perform manual labor, including lifting supplies and materials up to 50 lbs.;
Must conform to TPWD work rules, safety procedures and dress and grooming standards;
Required to operate a State vehicle;
Non-smoking work environment in all State buildings and vehicles.
