At the Wake County Sheriff's Office, we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Supervisor to lead and inspire a talented team of accounting professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our financial future while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations.
In this role you will: - Provide supervision and performance management to staff through training, recruitment, coaching, and completely yearly reviews
- Collect information, review data collected, reconcile accounts and coordinate and review budgets, expenditures and revenue
- Monitor budgets to provide accurate and timely financial information to internal departments and outside reporting agencies
- Provide analytical support to staff, monitor trends in vendor registration and account maintenance, vendor payments, receivables collections, and revenues
- Research any areas of concern and review and audit source documents and recommend service improvements
- Coordinate with internal departments for requested training and support and external reporting agencies to assess needs and requirements for fiscal monitoring and reporting
- Perform program and/or account monitoring and evaluation of internal departments and/or subcontractors and recommend and install new procedures, methods and systems

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - Four years of experience in accounting
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

How Will We Know You're 'The One'? - Thorough knowledge of commonly used accounting structures in business or government settings
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices and theories of accounting, auditing, budgeting or financial management and knowledge of trends and merging technologies/automation
- Thorough knowledge of government accounting, auditing and reporting requirements
- Thorough knowledge of the county's appropriation, budgetary and accounting systems
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations applicable to the area of employment
- Ability to manage and direct complex financial management systems
- Ability to interpret and analyze financial data and reports
- Ability to interpret complicated federal and state statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to applicable programs
- Ability to communicate effectively and disseminate information to senior management
