  • Job Description

    The Irvine Police Department is conducting a recruitment for the position of Public Safety Supervisor I. The department seeks a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a high level of professionalism and a broad-based understanding of Public Safety support services.

    Your Impact
    • Supervises the daily activities and operations of Technical Services (Public Safety Fleet).
      • Assists in the procurement of equipment for Public Safety Fleet.
    • Supervises the daily activities and operations of the Temporary Holding Facility.
      • Meets with representatives of custody contract provider to review programs and related activities, needs and concerns.
      • Participates in all annual audits and inspections to include OC Health Care Agency, OC Fire Authority, Board of State and Community Corrections, Juvenile Justice Commission and Grand Jury.
      • Prepares monthly and annual reports for Board of State and Community Corrections and DOJ.
    • Oversees special permitting for vendors providing services within the City.
    • Assists in overseeing facility maintenance needs for the department.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Associate degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or related field with four years' experience in Parking Control, Animal Services or Property & Evidence, including two years' experience in a lead or supervisory capacity, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Possess, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license.

    Desirable Qualifications
    • Four years' experience working in Custody and Fleet, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    The Process
    The selection process will include an oral interview(s) and a background investigation prior to appointment. This recruitment may establish an eligibility list to fill future positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the organization.

    All applicants must be able to pass the Public Safety background check process. This includes, but is not limited to, the review of legal documents, police and driving records, credit profile, motor vehicle insurance, vehicle operation, prior employment records, and performance reviews.
