Youth Development Superintendent (Recreation Superintendent)
The City of Roseville Parks, Recreation & Libraries (PRL) Department is looking for a dynamic and innovative Superintendent to lead our Youth Development Division.

What You’ll Do: - Oversee compliance and operations for our state-licensed before- and after-school programs across 21 (soon to be 22) Adventure Club and preschool sites on elementary school campuses in Roseville.
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of dedicated professionals to inspire the next generation of leaders.
- Develop and manage the Youth Development annual budget, ensuring cost recovery targets are met.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with school districts, internal and external partners, and community stakeholders.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in youth programs to meet the evolving needs of our community.

DEFINITION
To plan, organize and direct Recreation section activities within the Parks, Recreation, & Libraries Department including community services; to coordinate section activities with other departments; and to provide highly responsible technical support to management.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from a higher-level manager.
Exercises direct supervision over supervisory, technical, and administrative support personnel.

Experience and Training
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in community services, library, recreation and/or parks, including two years of supervisory experience.
AND
Training:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
License or Certificate
Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS :
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations. Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
Some positions require the clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check within 12 months of appointment. The City may appoint candidates to positions prior to clearing the extensive Police Department background check, and in those circumstances the candidate will be advised in advance that security access in the information technology systems will be limited to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is received, and if the candidate ultimately does not clear the PD background it will result in release from City service without appeal rights, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
