    Minimum Qualifications
    Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
    • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years of experience in a technical training environment.
    • Experience may substitute for the education up to the maximum of four (4) years.


    Licenses or Certifications:

    Licensing for specific disciplines may be required.

    This position is mainly responsible for developing and conducting department sponsored trainings for City Board and Commission members as well as other department staff. Candidate must be able to outline all the requirements to both individuals familiar with the practice and policies of
    the City as well as lay members of the public who have been appointed to serve on one of the numerous boards and commissions.

    This position also works with posting Boards and Commissions agendas, Council agendas, i.e., receive and review agendas, backup documents, minutes, and cancellation notices in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act guidelines and City Standards. This position will need to be familiar with a variety of software ranging from use of learning management systems, personal computer, Microsoft products, i.e. word, excel. SharePoint, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, PowerBI.

    Pay Range
    $28.29 - $34.80

    Hours
    8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    This position is in-person with two days of telework upon completion of probationary period.

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    Surveys various training techniques, materials, and commercial offerings to select the most appropriate process for the delivery of training. Delivers targeted, audience-appropriate instructor-led training sessions. Coordinates student and facility schedules for delivery of training, and maintains and prepares appropriate records of participation. Develops written training materials, visual aids, and reference materials, including course curriculums. Performs preproduction, production, and postproduction work on computer- and video- training materials that use computer and streaming audio-visual technologies for on-demand use. Develops and administers assessments of staff skills for use in developing training strategies and curriculum, and effectiveness of delivery. Conducts research or surveys to determine the effectiveness of training provided.

    City Government

    The City of Austin is a progressive, full-service municipal organization operating under the Council-Manager form of government. Austin has a 10-1 council system with an at-large Mayor and Council Members that represent ten districts.
