Job Description
The City of Live Oak, located in beautiful northern Sutter County, offers an outstanding combination of quality-of-life attributes including a small-town ambiance, affordable housing, friendly people, quality schools, and a great climate. Strategically located along the Highway 99 corridor between Yuba City and Chico, the City of Live Oak provides easy access to desirable destinations such as San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and nearby Sacramento. Incorporated in 1947 and named for the oak forest that once dominated the landscape, Live Oak is rooted strongly in agriculture, surrounded on all sides by bountiful agriculture production, including peaches, nuts, rice, and other crops. The City Manager is the administrative head of the government of the City and receives policy direction from the City Council in planning, organizing and directing the overall administrative activities and operations of the City. Under Council direction, the City Manager ensures that the policy directions set forth by the Council are carried out and the day-to-day operations of the City government run smoothly.
The City is seeking a collaborative City Manager with exceptional interpersonal, creative, leadership, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, reliable, and forward-thinking visionary who is capable of handling economic development while ensuring the long-term financial stability of the City. The new City Manager will continue to move the City in a positive direction by providing clear direction to staff, engaging and building relationships with the community, and bringing a broad perspective to further developments. The successful candidate will offer strong management skills with the ability to complete projects and take collective direction from City Council. The annual salary range for the City Manager is $153,000 - $229,500; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
