    The Position

    Bargaining Unit: Local 21 - Supervisory Management

    Contra Costa County Assessor’s Office is filling one position for Supervising Appraiser. As a Supervising Appraiser, you would be responsible for supervising groups of appraisers involved in making changes in ownership determinations, cost estimating, and appraising all types of property.

    As a Supervising Appraiser, you will typically be responsible for:
    • Reviewing work completed by appraisers for conformity to appraisal theory, the Revenue and Taxation Code, and office procedures
    • Planning and presenting Assessment Appeals before the Assessment Appeals Board
    • Training and providing direction to staff
    • Responding to taxpayers and their representatives
    • Performing the most difficult and complex high-value appraisals

    Minimum Qualifications

    License Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator’s license will be accepted during the application process.

    Certificate Required: Possession of a valid Appraiser's Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.

    Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent professional experience in appraising real property in a California County Assessor's Office, or in a state or federal agency in California responsible for appraising property.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Extensive knowledge of Property Tax Laws
    • Advanced computer skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with others
    • Possess exceptional leadership skills


    Selection Process

    Application Filing and Evaluation: Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process. Online Interview Assessment: The Interview Assessment will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the Interview Assessment, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to Analyzing & Interpreting Data, Critical Thinking, Delivering Results, Attention to Detail, Professional Integrity & Ethics, and Decision Making. (Weighted 100%). Departmental Hiring Interview: To be scheduled once the eligible list is established.

    CONVICTION HISTORY

    DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
