OverviewThe Natural Resources Department is looking for a Trail Crew Worker TEMP to join our team!
In this role you will perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties, within specific guidelines, in the development and maintenance of County parks, open space, buildings, and grounds.
Our mission is to establish, protect, and manage significant regional parks and open lands providing quality outdoor recreational opportunities and stewardship of natural resource values. We are committed to fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the natural and agricultural heritage of Larimer County for present and future generations.
There are multiple part-time and full-time openings for this position. Additionally, it is a temporary role with an expected duration of four months.

- Constructing and maintaining trails, including cleaning drainage structures, clearing corridors, removing berms, filling in erosion, moving rocks, removing downed trees, outsloping tread, and performing other trail-related tasks.
- Constructing related structures such as retaining walls, stairs, water bars, switchbacks, rock walls, and similar features.
- Constructing and maintaining fences.
- Leading and guiding volunteer groups in proper trail maintenance and construction tasks.
- Assisting in a variety of natural resource management projects.
- Operating and maintaining equipment used in assigned tasks, including all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel drive vehicles, walk-behind track loaders, chain saws, and hand and power tools.
- Performing heavy, physical labor involved in park trail construction and maintenance duties for extended periods; working outdoors in all weather conditions as required.
- Anticipating unsafe circumstances and taking proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.
- Installing signs and assisting with landscape and re-vegetation projects.

What we're looking for:
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trail maintenance and construction, including walk-behind track loaders.
- Understanding of trail-building techniques, such as water bars, switchbacks, rock walls, and related structures.
- Experience in construction trades.
- Familiarity with landscaping techniques.
- Ability to operate power and hand tools for construction and maintenance projects.
- Awareness of safe work practices and procedures.
