    Hours per day: 8

    Salary Level: MW/11A, $51.61hr

    This position performs a variety of tasks, as assigned by the supervisor, for the maintenance and operations department and the warehouse; supports and complies with all District policies and procedures for inspection and safety.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    1. Warehouse duties, as assigned by supervisor, include, but are not limited to, shipping and receiving, waiting on personnel to issue materials, tools, equipment, and take material orders; locate and purchase materials, tools, and equipment; deliver materials, equipment and tools to job sites; keep tool room, warehouse and other areas of responsibility in a clean, neat, and orderly manner; verify all tools and equipment to be in good safe working order upon their return; input materials into the tracking system.

    2. Fills in for the refuse truck driver, as directed.

    3. Moves Scheduled Maintenance and Repair Team (SMART) trailers weekly, to assigned locations.

    4. Maintains proper record keeping and hazardous materials in code compliance with required Hazardous Materials Handler’s Certificate.

    5. Picks-up, delivers, and empties the 20 yard dumpsters.

    6. Assists other trades, as directed and required, in operating equipment for renovating the fields, loading and unloading equipment, grading and checking grade, identifying backfill materials and for the delivery of program needs to include, but not limited to, wrestling mats, bleachers, lifts, furniture; assists, as directed, in storm and sewer work.

    7. Operates equipment, as directed and required, that may include, but not limited to, the Tractor-Trailer combinations, refuse trucks, bucket trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, front loaders, solid waste handlers, tractors, garden and lawn equipment.

    OTHER JOB DUTIES

    1. Obeys all safety policies including but not limited to all District safety policies requiring the inspection of vehicles and equipment for system safety operation prior to operation; fall restraint policy. Ensures work and storage areas are maintained for the purpose of safety and efficiency in the operation.

    2. Operates equipment, as directed, including but not limited to tractor-trailer combinations, refuse trucks, bucket trucks, dump trucks, boom trucks, backhoes, front loaders, solid waste handlers, tractors, garden and lawn equipment.

    3. Performs related duties as assigned.

    4. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.

    CONDITIONS

    Work involves considerable heavy physical work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to 50 pounds; required to use power equipment in cleaning processes; may be required to work in confined spaces and/or climb ladders; required to work outdoors in inclement weather; exposure to chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises; required to move heavy objects; may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile; may travel to various district locations.

    Education and Experience

    High school graduation or equivalent and minimum of one year experience as a warehouse specialist, laborer, general grounds and/or maintenance experience; experience operating various grounds equipment; experience in moving large heavy pieces of furniture and equipment, setting up scaffolding, staging and laying out and marking various athletic fields, desired; or any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work.

    Licenses/Special Requirements

    Valid Washington State driver’s license.

    Maintains CDL license.

    Maintains Forklift certification.

    Maintains Hazardous Material to include transport and handling.

    Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/sexual misconduct clearance.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of skilled multi-crafts practices, procedures, and related equipment.

    Knowledge of grounds and equipment maintenance and safety.

    Knowledge of state and local Department of Transportation regulations.

    Knowledge of warehouse storage techniques.

    Knowledge of purchasing procedures and policies.

    Skill in preventive maintenance program.

    Skill in minor mechanical and equipment repair.

    Skill in the operation of multi-crafts equipment; practices and procedures.

    Skill in the use of hand and power tools applicable to the work.

    Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information.

    Skill in decision-making and problem solving.

    Skill in District and other applicable software applications.

    Ability to read, understand, and follow safety procedures.

    Ability to understand written and verbal communication.

    Ability to perform as a member of a team.

    Ability to provide quality customer service.

    Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable and regular attendance.

    Ability to coordinate activities.

    Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain good follow-through procedures.

    Ability to accurately perform arithmetic calculations.

    Ability to operate a forklift and delivery trucks.

    Ability to perform heavy physical labor.

    Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects, move at least 50 pounds, using proper equipment and safety

    precautions.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting.
