    POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

    The Park Attendant position is responsible for greeting visitors, providing park information, cleaning restroom and pavilion facilities, and other parks maintenance duties. This is a highly visible position, which is maintaining park amenities and environment for safe enjoyment for all guests that visits our Parks. Park Attendants are expected to provide accurate information to park guests and provide excellent customer service while working in an active park. This position requires the ability to multi-task, work quickly, and independently handle a high volume of visitors at peak times. This position works a varied part-time schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

    Most positions will begin after April 14 th and last through October 10th.

    The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

    JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

    Provides knowledgeable and friendly guest service functions as a host of an assigned park facilityMonitors and maintains park amenities in a safe, healthy manner for our guestsCollects trash and perform general grounds cleaningOperates blower, rakes, brooms, shovels, hose and other maintenance tools and equipmentAids other park staff during emergencies and/or other situations as they ariseMaintains regular and punctual attendance
    Other Duties and Responsibilities
    Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

    Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses and Certifications
    Required :
    • Must be at least 16 years of age to apply, must be 18 for most positions; limited positions are available for applicants ages 16 and 17
    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • Valid driver’s license, provide proof of a safe driving record, and maintain a safe driving record for continued employment
    • Experience working with the public
    • Enjoys working in a park or outdoor setting
    • Basic computer literacy skills

    Preferred :
    • Customer service experience in a fast-paced, high-volume park setting

    Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and skills, may be considered.

    Physical Requirements
    Due to the nature of work, sufficient physical stamina and strength are needed to:
    • Withstand exposure to periods of high activity, emergency situations, and high stress under extremely demanding conditions
    • Answer and provide guidance to questions as needed
    • Able to work various shifts/days/holidays
    • Perform active work for sustained periods of time
    • Frequently sit, stand, and walk indoors and outdoors
    • Constant light grasp, fine manipulation and handling to properly use equipment, computers and garden tools
    • Constant near acuity to perform office tasks; constant far acuity to observe area for maintenance needs and safety hazards; constant hearing to effectively communicate with guests and staff, and to be aware of any possible dangers in the area

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    Work is primarily performed outdoors and indoors with constant exposure to extreme temperatures. Position performs related duties and light maintenance in a highly public, municipal park environment. This is a highly active, visible position within a multi-use municipal park, where periods of high activity and stress may exist.

    Required Materials and Equipment
    Operates cleaning materials, trash collection tools, park maintenance tools and equipment, computers, telephones, and other equipment. Drive utility carts to perform tasks or operate vehicle.

    Benefit Package

    The City of Westminster does not participate in the Social Security system. In lieu of Social Security contributions, the city contributes to a 401(a) defined contribution plan on your behalf.

    401(a) Contribution Rates:
    Employee Mandatory Contribution: 11.5% of your base pay. Contributions are pre-tax and fully vested.
    Employer Contribution: 12% of your base pay.

    Employer Contribution Vesting Schedule
    • Less than 3 years - 0%
    • 3 to 4 years - 60%
    • 4 to 5 years - 80%
    • Over 5 years - 100%
    • For employees age 55 and older, the employer contributions are 100% vested
