    TPWD MISSION

    To manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas and to provide hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation opportunities for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    READ - IMPORTANT TRANSCRIPT REQUIREMENT:

    A copy of a current college transcript, ISSUED FROM THE REGISTRAR with a signature and/or school watermark, must be attached to the application at time of submission. The transcript must show current GPA, credits, and current enrollment or recent graduation date.

    DEGREE PLANS OR GRADES FROM A STUDENT SELF-SERVICE PORTAL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Omission of a transcript will be the basis for disqualification.

    International degrees must be accompanied with an evaluation of the comparable academic qualification. There are several associations related to degree evaluations that can be contacted to obtain the required documentation (i.e. Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), etc.).

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION :

    This role is designed to foster the candidate's ability to evaluate the effectiveness of current and projected administrative systems and procedures. If hired, candidate would contribute to improving overall team operations and efficiency, support Procurement Branch staff with general office tasks even if the tasks aren't directly related to purchasing and contracting. These types of projects also provide valuable experience in project management, process improvement, and team dynamics.

    Performs entry-level administrative support work involving disseminating information concerning agency programs, services and procedures; preparing, editing and correspondences, reports, studies, forms and documents; complies and maintains data, charts, graphs and filing systems. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Employees at this level may have limited experience or no experience and spend the majority of their time performing simple to routine work following standard practices. Employees may also assist others in performing work of greater complexity. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.


    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education :

    Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university.

    Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application.

    Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or "Pass" on a Pass/Fail system.

    Experience :

    None required.

    Licensure :

    Must possess a valid Texas driver's license.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education :

    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or closely related field.

    Experience :

    One year experience in office workspace.

    Experience with developing policies and procedures.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

    Knowledge of office practices and general administrative procedures.

    Knowledge of recordkeeping and records management.

    Knowledge of supply sources.

    Skill in the use of a personal computer.

    Skill in the use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.

    Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

    Skill in effective verbal and written communication.

    Skill in the production of reports.

    Skill in problem solving.

    Skill in providing quality output.

    Skill in effectively managing daily workload responsibilities to timely meet division and agency goals.

    Skill in recordkeeping, records management, and accurate data entry into relational databases or

    Ability to develop methods and procedures for locating purchasing sources.

    Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, internal users, and vendors.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    This position is suitable to telework two days per week and the candidate may be allowed to telework with

    supervisor approval.

    Flexible hours are available with supervisor approval but must be worked Monday through Friday.

    Required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.

    Required to pass a national fingerprint-based background check to maintain employment.

    Must conform to TPWD dress and grooming standards, work rules, and safety procedures.

    Non-smoking environment in State buildings and vehicles.
