    Workdays & Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. May be required to work after hours, weekends and special events.

    A Field Operations Supervisor position is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department in our Park Operations Division. The position is responsible for supervising different operational crews, coordinating various maintenance programs, and assist with the Park Operations activities in the North District.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • HS Diploma/GED.
    • Three (3) years of responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, repair, or operational activities related to assigned department or division.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in field of welding & fabrication, construction, irrigation repair & maintenance, landscaping, heavy machinery and equipment operation & maintenance
    • Bilingual English / Spanish.
    • Municipal and government policy and permit experience.
    • Job tracking software, such as Vue Works - work order tracking system, GEOTAB - GPS/Camera System, Sortly - Inventory tracking system, faster - vehicle PM’s.

    The Assistant Field Operations Supervisor job responsibilities include:
    • Supervise staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; ensure employees follow policies and procedures; maintain a safe working environment and safety training; assist in making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations.
    • Create, assign and follow up on work orders; ensure maintenance goals are met; inspect maintenance, repair and operational activities; operate equipment and machinery, as needed.
    • Participate in supervising scheduled preventative maintenance programs for equipment and facilities; maintain records of time, material, and equipment used for projects or services. Assist district field operations activities with city departments, outside agencies and organizations; prepare and presents staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
    • Assist in inventorying supplies, equipment and chemicals; monitor use of appropriate supplies, tools, and equipment and assist in purchasing.
    • Respond to and resolve public inquiries and complaints; confer with customers regarding problems; respond to emergencies as needed.
    • Assist the Field Operations Supervisor in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for existing procedures.
    • Assist in establishing schedules and methods for providing maintenance; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
    • Perform skilled maintenance and horticulture tasks; utilize specialized machines and tools; monitor irrigation and make repairs; apply fertilizers and pesticide and maintain records of applications.
    • Establish working relationships with Park & Recreation contract compliance staff to ensure contracted mowing is performed according to contract agreements; make observations and report issues to contract compliance staff.

    assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

    Physical Demands

    Medium work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

    Medical Program

    Vacation

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
