    Requirements

    Education and Experience : High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of information and referral experience in a social service setting or telephone customer service experience.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

    Special Requirements : Must successfully pass an audiogram.

    General Purpose

    Under general supervision, provide information and referral (I&R) services, primarily via telephone, for the Rio Grande Region, including El Paso, Brewster, Culberson, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, and Presidio counties.

    Typical Duties

    Provide Information and Referral (I&R) services. Involves: Provide direct I&R services including follow-up, social and health services, community advocacy, and crisis intervention by telephone (90%), via e-mail, or face-to-face for walk-ins. Conduct public presentations to promote programs and access to available services for individuals in the community including military service members and their families. Participate in outreach activities at community events and venues. Research, compile, and organize a database of sites and events appropriate for outreach and dissemination of promotional materials. Research, review, and evaluate available I&R resources and services for the target population. Maintain tracking mechanism for outreach and other project activities in the Alliance database. Assist in creating a database of resources available to include individuals in the military and their families. Maintain records, and filing systems and compiled and organized information.
