    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The County of Marin, California is seeking an experienced Assistant Director for Business Services (Classification: Assistant Director of Public Works - Business Services) to oversee the critical administrative functions within the Public Works Department. As one of four Assistant Directors, this visionary leader is responsible for managing Administrative and General Services for the Public Works Department, including budgeting and accounting, procurement, and Countywide print services and radio communication. The Assistant Director will supervise a direct team of six and a total staff of 48, while overseeing development of the Department’s $88 million operating budget. They will prioritize modernizing technology and processes, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and breaking down organizational silos to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. The ideal candidate has a strong background in local municipal government operations with exceptional financial acumen and knowledge of California procurement processes. Employment at the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

There is a County contribution toward the premiums (the contribution amount varies depending on coverage tier elected such as employee only, employee + 1, employee + family).     IRS 457 Plan : Choice of pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) employee contribution up to the IRS annual maximum.

    Retiree Medical : The County provides access to group health plan coverage to eligible retirees.
