  • Job Description

    Full-time position available with the Water Department, Finance Division located at 4800 E. 63rd St.
    Salary Range: $20.48 -$30.71/Hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day per pay period after 6 month probationary period.

    Responsibilities

    • Supervises and coordinates the functions and operations of the Water Services Finance Administrative Division for an assigned work unit.
    • Assists in the administration of Finance Administration operations; coordinates specialized programs as directed.
    • Assists in the development, installation and execution of Water Services policies and procedures.
    • Assists all Water Services division heads in the finance administration of the department and supervises the performance of routine operational tasks; suggests, for the benefit of general policy changes, those operational defects which should be remedied.
    • Sees to the fulfillment of Water Services administration detail; performs special assignments and submits reports based on such assignments; consults administrative superior on matters of general policy.
    • Studies and develops revised procedures for the fulfillment of routine activities; receives difficult complaints; offers information to interested persons and groups; prepares correspondence.
    • Analyzes Water Services revenues and expenditures; reviews budget estimates and assists in the determination of appropriations to be recommended by Water Services Finance Administration Division and analyzes divisional procedures in an attempt to conserve funds.
    • Collects information related to Water Services operational and administrative problems; analyzes findings, makes reports, evaluates methods and procedures and recommends changes.
    • Performs a variety of tasks involving liaison with other departments, agencies and groups; represents the Water Services department in meetings and conferences involving city officials, public and private groups.
    • Assists in the preparation of long-range Water Services finance administration presentations and planning studies on specialized management problems.
    • Confers with persons in person or by telephone requesting service or making complaints on matters of general importance to the Water Services Finance division
    • Maintains numerous records and generates reports using excel and or PowerPoint as required.
    • Performs related duties as required.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience to include professional experience in the development and/or operation of administrative systems, programs, policies and practice. Preference given to candidates with considerable knowledge of financial operations and strong excel skills.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
