The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
The Nevada Department of Transportation Information Technology Division is recruiting for an IT Professional 2 located in Carson City. This position serves as the subject matter expert for Physical Security as it relates to information security at NDOT. The Physical Security IT Professional 2 position is to manage NDOT's statewide building access system and NDOT's security cameras and fully integrate them into the NDOT Cybersecurity Program. This position is the single point of contact for all NDOT physical security activities statewide. The role will have the responsibility of reporting metrics and telemetry into the NDOT Cybersecurity Program. This role will also be responsible for responding to, correlating, and reporting anomalous activity related to security incidents. The role will also act as a Systems Administrator, conducting Identity and Access Management services. Manage the Personnel Security program, which assures the loyalty, reliability, suitability, and trustworthiness of applicants, employees, and others who work with, will work with, or have access to sensitive or classified information and material. The role will also support the following programs under Cyber Security, Systems Security Analysis, Digital Forensics, Threat Analysis, Incident Response, and Vulnerability Analysis. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back. Some positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
