    The purpose of this position is to deliver and facilitate the Emergency Operations Center Operations and Planning for All-Hazards Events training course on an as-needed, part-time basis as part of the Homeland Security National Training Program cooperative agreement.

    The Agency Instructor I will support the delivery of TEEX courses in accordance with approved curriculum outlines, timelines, and instructor guides. Responsibilities include conducting all course exercises as outlined, preparing classrooms, delivering engaging classes using teaching aids and demonstrations, completing required administrative paperwork, and maintaining technical competence and skills. This role involves travelling to remote locations to provide classroom instruction.

    This position reports to the Training Director.

    Required Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Four years of experience in emergency management training, emergency response planning and/or emergency management.
    • Four years of experience working in a city and/or county Emergency Operations Center.
    • Two years of experience in training adults.


    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
    • Must have a valid passport or ability to obtain within 180 days of employment.
    • Completion of IS 700, IS 800, ICS 100, ICS 200, ICS 300 and ICS 400.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Ten years’ experience in a leadership role in any combination of the following emergency response fields: technical local, state, or federal emergency response discipline from law enforcement, fire, hazmat, EMS, health care and/or public health, public works, medical, military, emergency management, public information discipline, government administration, public safety communication or other designated.
    • Experience facilitating courses/exercises supported by Homeland Security National Training Program - HSNTP.
    • T hree years with a State or Federal response organization.
    • Five years as a chief officer.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to move up to 30 lbs with or without assistance.
    • Ability to use computer/keyboard and telephone.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle and/or flying on commercial airlines.
    • This position allows telecommuting per TEEX guidelines.
    • This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
    • This is a wage position established to accommodate a temporary organizational need. As such, TEEX does not guarantee any set number of hours or length of employment in this role.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Training Course Delivery - 90%
    • Ensures all training materials are prepared before class and secured at the completion of class; follow approved curriculum course outline; complete required administrative tasks associated with delivery of training.
    • Deliver various courses within a specified program; maintain subject matter expertise on topics of instruction.
    • Presents lessons in a positive manner using adult learning principles; ensure all aspects of lessons and activities are covered.
    • Participates as a Subject Matter Expert during course/exercise development and review as needed.
    • Travels to conduct training courses as assigned.


    Other Requirements - 10%
    • Submits time, expense reports and receipts within the required time frame.
    • Completes all required TAMUS training by the due dates.
    • Performs additional work duties as assigned.
    • Wear appropriate professional attire and represent TEEX in a professional and positive manner.
