Fire Mechanic - CDL. The position is scheduled to work 5 days, 8 hours.

Who we are looking for Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, ability to organize, and prioritize work and is dependable, reliable, and responsible. The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform specialized journey level mechanical maintenance and repair on all types of complex firefighting apparatus and related equipment, to include heavy duty Fire response trucks, general purpose automotive vehicles and specialized components such as centrifugal fire pumps, hydraulically operated aerial ladders, elevating platforms and computerized electronic control systems. Additionally, an employee in this class may be assigned to repair and maintain fire service tools and equipment.

Minimum qualifications - A High School Diploma or GED; and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, repair and inspection of heavy equipment including experience maintaining and repairing diesel motors
- Emergency Vehicle Technician (E.V.T.) Fire Apparatus Level I Certification within six (6) months of hire or promotion
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record and a Class B Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of hire or promotion
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment DOT drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
